The Mavericks joined the 2005 Fort Worth Frogs as the only Team to win AAU Nationals an Mayb Nationals in the same year. AAU Nationals The Mavericks went 3-0 in pool play. They defeated Tennessee Shooters 53-24 , Minnesota Stars 51-23 an C Y-Fair Shock Nike Elite 72-32 First round of bracket play brought #13 Ok Swarm Elite. It was a physical game and the Mavericks bullied their way to a 64-50 win In the elite 8 stood the 2 time defending National Champions Tennessee Team Pride. The Champions would not go down without a fight but the Mavericks prevailed 40-36 At the Final Four the Mavericks could smell the title game. They jumped out on Indiana ISSA FBC an cruised to a 71-52 win Championship Game was against the Texas Jets coached by NBA star Jason Terry. To say the game was a dog fight was a understatement. Early in the first period Alaysia Ready was knocked out of the game with a broken nose(she would return in 4th period wearing a mask). The Mavericks fought to a slight halftime lead. But timely missed free throws an Rodrea Echols fouling out in the 4th period say both Teams tied at 40 with 20seconds left. Ready made a great steal an attempted the wining layup. But Carliegha Thompson was able to get her missed shot an was fouled with seconds left. Thompson calmly sank both free throws to give the Mavericks the AAU NATIONAL TITLE MAYB The Mavericks fought for 8 straight games to win the National Title. Sunday on Championship day the Mavericks played 4 games in a 7 hour time frame to show unbelievable heart an determination. The Mavericks had very little left in championship game but fought to a 39-38 victory over Ok Swarm Elite(the same team they had defeated at aau nationals bracket play).
